Ratcliff and Blach Construction were selected as the winning Design/Build team for the design of a new Student Wellness Center for California State University, San Jose.

Conceived from one of the major architectural styles developed on campus and sited at the intersection of four campus quadrants, the building successfully melds outside and inside by establishing new gathering spaces with sensitive landscaping, facade design and material selections, all the while aligning planning and budget with campus integration as the ultimate goal.

Through a series of collaborative user meetings and workshops, the team worked diligently to meet all program requirements. In roughly 53,000-square-feet, the new three-story facility will deliver basic outpatient and primary care services to students.  The interior, based on the concept of a pod planningĀ model, provides private spaces for physicians and counselors and an open planning concept for support and administrative services. The project (including building and site development) will meet the requirements equivalent to a LEEDĀ® Gold rating.
